Love-Hate Relationship with Obsidian: Am I Alone?

I’ve got a bit of a love-hate thing going on with Obsidian. On the one hand, it’s incredible—local-first, privacy-respecting, insanely customizable, and those backlinks and graph views? Chef’s kiss. It’s honestly one of the most powerful tools I’ve ever used for managing my thoughts and notes.

But (and here’s the kicker), as someone who lives in their browser, it feels weirdly inconvenient to have to switch over to a separate app. Like, I’m jumping between 20 tabs on Chrome or Edge all day, and having to “leave” that workflow to open up Obsidian is just... disruptive. I know, I know—it’s not a huge deal, but it’s enough that I sometimes avoid using it, which feels like a crime given how good it is.

So, am I alone in this? Does anyone else feel like the browser-based apps (Notion, Roam, etc.) just slot into their life easier? Or have you found some clever way to make Obsidian fit seamlessly into your browser-heavy workflow? I’d love to hear how you’re managing this, especially if you’ve got any hacks or plugins that help!

Let’s commiserate (or debate?). 😊
