New to VR-Slightly disappointed with the worlds

I’m a 40-year-old guy who recently got an Oculus Quest 3. I was excited to jump into VR and explore its potential, but after spending some time in Horizon Worlds, I’m honestly left feeling disappointed.

I am not here to troll and blindly criticise. I really like the immersive experience and I have started working out on using some of the games. I've really liked Batman Arkham Asylum game and has played it for 3-4 hours already. So I like it. But I am just disappointed with the horizon worlds.

Everywhere I went, it was packed with kids and preteens—judging by their voices, they were probably between 8-14 years old. They weren’t just cussing and swearing constantly; some were making obscene gestures and even stalking people around, trying to provoke them into reacting. It felt like their main goal was to make others angry.

On top of that, the worlds themselves didn’t feel immersive or modern. The graphics and environments reminded me of games from the 90s—not exactly what I expected from cutting-edge VR in 2025.

I know VR has massive potential, but this experience made me question where that potential is being realized. I didn’t buy a Quest 3 to feel like I’d stumbled into an unsupervised playground full of toxic behavior.

Are there better-moderated spaces in VR for adults to explore, relax, or socialize? Or is this just the current state of the VR community?

I’m not ready to give up on VR, but this initial experience was far from what I’d hoped for. I’d love to hear any recommendations or insights.

Edit: Thank you very much for the suggestions. Being new to VR and Meta, I had no idea that Horizon World already had such a bad reputation. Will try to avoid it. I am really enjoying Batman and the other games. Will try the ones you suggested. Appreciate you all taking the time to help me out.
