I did a thing!
Ok, so before I talk about the omnibuses, let me take you back to where it all started (also, the second pic is my current collection). January 11 is a day I’ll remember for a long time because that’s the day I got my first comic book. It was a day I didn’t even plan to buy one. I had just bought PlayStation games for my new PS5 and decided to go to Barnes & Noble, because why not? I checked out the manga section, didn’t see anything that caught my eye, and then went to the comic section. I was like, why not? I’ve always wanted a comic since I was 4 (I’m 17 now). I was there for about 5 minutes, going back and forth between Marvel and DC, and finally decided on Batman and Spawn.
Fast forward 2-3 days later, I read them in two days and was in love. Now, I won’t lie—I didn’t like how they made Batman seem like a brolic, dumbfounded version of Wolverine, but staring at the art and reading it, I enjoyed it very much.
January 14th is when I started doing research on more comics, and I settled on the other comics you see in my collection. I was in awe when someone recommended Rite of Spring, so I bought the entire saga of it. Swamp Thing is like beautiful—if I wasn’t reading it in school, I would’ve cried once I got to the Rite of Spring part. The change in psychedelic, acid-trip-like art, Alan Moore’s writing, and how you had to flip the book to read it was beautiful. I’m on book 3 of it so far, and I’m in love. Swamp Thing is probably going to be one of my favorite characters because of this.
I finished Spider-Man: Kraven’s Last Hunt in about 3-4 days. LOVED it. I was reading a couple issues of Spider-Man, then went to Swamp Thing, back and forth. I haven’t gotten to my Justice League one yet because I didn’t want to read 3 at a time, but now I’m getting to it, because, well, I FINISHED Spider-Man.
I did research on all three purchases, of course, but not much because I didn’t want to know much about the stories and just read it. I’m fairly open-minded—I enjoy everything artistic, not just art but also cooking, music, etc. I love it all, so I know I’m going to enjoy it.
That’s really it. I’m so excited for my omnibuses to come in and read them again. I did research, not much, but I know I’m going to enjoy them.
Now, I’m only going to do 3 more purchases: 2 more DC omnibuses, which are going to be Flashpoint, and 1 more Marvel, which is going to be a Punisher omnibus. Can’t remember the exact one right now, but it’s a really dark one they say.
I haven’t decided what the last DC one is going to be because from what I’ve seen, there aren’t many, so I might end up on a box set—hopefully not, because… Well, if you can guess it, I want 3 Marvel omnibuses and 3 dc
After this gonna read from subscriptions for a while because money stuff.
