Yansim as a anti-dating sim

Is this a rewrite? a redesign? The hell if I know. I'm just reworking this post I made last year. I used ibispaint's backgrounds, but the characters and illustrations are mine and you're encouraged to critique them.

Also, do with this idea what you want as I'd love to play this game but I can't work on something like this rn.

An anti-dating sim? Yup. In a dating sim, you play as a faceless main character who has to choose between many girls to romance. In an ANTI-dating sim, you play as a background character that has to choose between many girls to sabotage. Those characters usually fit more or less neatly into a bunch of archetypes.

Taro doesn't have a design, as most dating sim protagonists don't have one (they're supposed to be self inserts, after all). The character that we choose to sabotage would be the character our hypothetical main character chooses to romance.

I think there was a similar idea behind the matchmaking method in game, but it wasn't really well executed if I dare say.

The romanceable (sabotageable?) characters

Ayaka, 菖花 It means either iris flower or sweet flower, so I choose to make her bow a similar color to that type of flower. She's a deredere, meaning she's romantically interested in the main character and has no problem pursuing them. Plenty of blushing and "I made this for you". Sabotaging Ayaka would have the objective of making her look selfish.

Naruhi, 愛陽 Her name means to cherish the sun, fitting as she is the genki girl! Genki girls are energetic and positive, albeit they might be a little bit thick headed sometimes. Naruhi is Taro's coworker and a recent transfer to the school. I don't think she has romantic feelings for him, but that might change if Taro pursues her. By sabotaging Naruhi, she would appear careless and irresponsible.

Asana, 愛真 The name's meaning is truthful love, so I thought it'd be funny to make her our tsunderes. Tsunderes are romantically interested in a character, but won't admit it. Expect plenty of blushing and gifts followed by calling the main character a "baka" out of embarrassment. Characters like these are usually the childhood best friend to a main character who is clueless about her feelings. If we sabotage her, it'll look as if she genuinely hates Taro.

Tomoka, 和女 The name means calm girl, and that's exactly what she is. I think her archetype would be either a dandere. She's calm and may appear emotionless but it's secretly attracted to our main character and makes an effort to open up to him. We sabotage her by exploiting her timid nature, so she'll go away leaving a perplexed Taro behind.

Hikari, 光 Hikari means radiance and glory, and I thought that'd be a perfect name for our himedere. Himederes are quite similar to tsunderes, the difference is one of economic status: himederes are rich as fuck. To spice things up a little, Hikari won't be interested in Taro at first but would slowly fall for him in the course of the visual novel. To sabotage her, we pressure her. We make sure she has to choose between true love and status and ensure she'll choose the latter, no matter how much regret that might bring her.
