I just realized after almost a year that Amai was released... and it's bad.

I haven't been active on this subreddit for almost a year as I was focusing on personal life goals. So, I had zero clues about YanSim developments since its creators infamous accusations and the volunteers/voice actors leaving the project (good for them honestly). And... I just realized now that Amai has been implemented in the game for almost a year. So I told myself... why not try it?

I expected it to be bad, but not as terrible and mediocre as it currently is.

She was supposed to be 'harder' than Osana yet she is ridiculously easy to kill. She just looks like a slightly more elaborated Kokona, but her voice lines are least were better and more reasonable than Amai's. About the elimination methods... The 'Amai Challenge' was way better. Why did he changed her routine like that?

I can tolerate the missing voice lines because of the volunteers, but I don't think mixing up Osana's and Kokona's voice lines improves it. It makes the game feel more unfinished than it is. Either add or quit voice lines, but don't leave half of it. Also the recycled animations...

The rejection method is... just awful. Did he wrote the dialogues using ChatGPT? Even with voice lines the events would just be terrible. Taro's reactions are beyond exaggerated and ridiculous. Why does he treat her so horribly because of a pink apron and flies on the picnic event? I knew that he doesn't have much of a personality but he is straight up unlikeable now. I also understand that he's not as attached to her than he was on Osana... but still, I find his behaviour so... cringy and manchild coded (just like Dev, so I guess it's an accurate self insert). I also don't understand the reason to make him such an ass. It kills the motivation to eliminate the rivals and '''complete''' the game.

Why does the rivals also refer to him as 'Senpai' and not 'Taro'? It makes the game difficult to be taken seriously if that's the point you are trying to achieve.

Another feature I noticed that I dislike is how easily he just moved on from Osana. (if you killed her or eliminated her using a violent/lethal way, not by befriending/matchmaking) I'd liked to see more development of Taro as a person. How he process grief and trauma, how it does affect on future rivals and our potencial ending. It will also help us to know him more as a person and give the player potential opportunities to develop a relationship with Taro. But in the current game it's just like 'Oh no, my childhood friend is dead, anyways...'

The expelling method is slightly better. At least it's a bit logical. My only issue would be the funding reports, but everything else seems okay. So no much to complain here.

The explosion method... well I liked it. It's gory, but it's Yandere Simulator. But I think it should have more severe consequences on the player or it should be way harder to do. If I remember right, I think it was originally from a concept video. So it's interesting that he implemented it. If he could just listen more to feedback and see better inspirations, perhaps the game would have been better than it currently is.

About the matchmaking method, I both love and hate it. It's both one of my favourite elimination methods and yet one of the most tedious ones. It's not even hard, it's just tedious and time-consuming. I'd like it to be more natural too, because it currently feels too forced. Like the matchmaking characters talking to each other during the day as the stats increases or doing certain activities together at school. I like the new detail of them being together at the school on the next week and the mention of their partner on the 'Student Information'. Not bad, but seriously improvable.

Amai's 'dirty secret' is also a bit ridiculous. I mean, it's really gross that she spit on a customer's plate, but she was 13 years old and I don't think is severe enough to get bullied until she leaves Akademi. I guess Chalex is seriously getting out of writing ideas, or he's too focused on writing how perfect Megami Saikou is instead.

The befriend/betray one is just... eh. Same as what I said on my previous complains. Did he use ChatGPT or is too out of ideas? I get The Chalice man is not Shakespeare when it comes to writing skills, but even a 12 year old can write more interesting and reasonable lore than just 'evil & sus backery' lmfao. Seriously it's just plain bad. It would be more acceptable if he just wanted to leave Yandere Simulator as a joke game, but he insists so much on making it serious and adding so much lore, yet he fails so miserably at it. (Mainly because everything about the game is just Japanese/Anime stereotypes and the characters are so badly written/plain that is laughable.)

Unlike the 1980's game, at least these two don't feel as much of a copy-paste (still feels really lazy, but at least it has something original), but still incredibly underwhelming for such a long wait and it's quite terrible when it comes to game and character design itself. For having such huge volunteers, huge patreon money, sponsors, big youtubers supporting the game for almost a decade, it still feels really underwhelming.

Sorry for the massive rant. I spent a bit playing the game and honestly it's such a disappointment. Even worse than Osana when she was released.

About the 1980's mode updates... That's another thing. I will probably make another post regarding the changed this mode has gotten.
