Best Use for Hazards Slash Ability?

Noticed that Hazard can slash during his Violent Leap ability. Not sure the amount of damage that it deals but I like the knock back effect.. however I find myself landing before acting using the slash and was wondering if anyone has successfully found a significant way to use in any situations or against any specific heroes.
