Do gynecologists care if you're hairy?

My gynecologist is an older gentleman, very kind. He tried to make me feel as comfortable as possible, but it's almost 24 hours later and I'm still embarrassed. I wasn't expecting to do a smear, but he wanted to get some progress done at my visit, so I just broke down and did it. I didn't shave, but I also suffer from hirsutism so I was hella embarrassed.
