Interim Rule Going into Effect December 16th — thoughts?
So, the regulation allowing those stuck in SAVE forbearance hell to opt back into PAYE (if they qualify) goes into effect tomorrow. I’m at 69 out of 120 payments with $160k of loans mostly from a private law school (don’t do it kids) and am in a well-paying public service job that I don’t hate. Honestly, at this point, I just want my payments to start counting again so I can be done with this sooner rather than later—especially given all the uncertainty.
How many of you plan to (re)apply for PAYE as soon as the regulation goes into effect? And what’s your situation? I’m also curious to hear your thoughts and rationales if you’re planning to hang back and wait for the SAVE litigation to play out.
P.S. This sub is an invaluable resource—equal parts commiseration and hope. Love being in the trenches with y’all.
