How to be a Degenerate (Purchasing Premium/PokeGold) on Android

If you're looking to spend some money (like on the premium pass or on pokegold) there's a sort of convoluted process to get it going that hasn't really been explained very well anywhere.

This process is going to be much easier if you had a second phone, because of one of the steps later in the process.

Using one Device:

  1. Turn on your VPN and go into your phones settings to manage your Google accounts. Add a new account, and then create a new account. This needs to be done via your phone, as if you do it on the VPN through the browser it will prompt you for a phone number (which you don't have because you don't live in NZ).
  2. With your new NZ Google account, you'll need to make it the primary account on the phone. There is no way to switch which account is being used when a purchase prompt comes up within the game. To do this, you'll need to delete all the other Google accounts on the device. This is why having two phones makes this a bit easier. You should be able to readd your other Google accounts after, but if it's your main device this seems like an annoying inconvinence.
  3. With your new NZ account as your primary, you should be able to go back into the game and make a purchase by adding a PayPal account. Something to note, I have my PayPal account set to use PayPal credit as the default, and a PokeGold purchase I made did not use my credit, but instead used an attached debit card. I don't know if this was an error on my end or simply required to convert currencies.

Using two Devices:

  1. I first made sure my Nintendo account was linked on my primary/main device. This is to make it easier to transfer data to the other phone you'll be making purchases on (and makes future purchases easier).
  2. Turn on your VPN, install the game. When installing on the new device, use the save transfer via Nintendo account (not google account). As far as I can tell, this is not a "save transfer" but more of a "save link" as I am able to access my account on both devices.
  3. Complete steps 1 through 3 above. I never readded any of my other Google account on the extra device, and if I feel like being a degenerate I can just pop on there and make a purchase and then go to my main device.

If someone has found an easier way to do anything, go ahead and chime in. But figured this would be helpful to those that were interested in the premium pass at the very least.
