SERE as an older recruit with a family
Hi, I'm going through the process of trying to go forward with getting into the Air Force and I'm leaning towards SERE but I have some questions that I hope some of you might have some answers to.
I'm an older guy, I'm 36, and I'm wondering if I'm too old for the job. I know that the age limit is 39 and that there are lots of factors that can make a difference but I'm asking about in general, or at least in your opinion, is 36 too old for something like SERE, why or why not? I've been training but haven't passed the run portion of the IFT.
I have a wife and son and I'm trying to figure out when they'd be able to join me. I've seen some info saying that they could join me while I'd be in tech school and that I'd be able to live off base with my family, however I've also heard that I wouldn't be able to do any of that until I was done with the initial training/tech school - do you know which is true?
How much time do you get between BMT and starting SERE school? I'm trying to figure out how much time I'd have to see my family after BMT as well as to move from my state to Washington
