[Vent] Family making me feel bad for having a screen-free baby.
I've been feeling really unsupported by my family for keeping my son (4mo) away from screens. No matter how many times I tell them that the CDC and AAP recommend that kids shouldn't have any screen time before at least 2, they roll their eyes and act like I'm horrible for not letting my kid watch TV or phones. Just yesterday, my grandma video called me and wanted to see the baby, which is fine! That's acceptable screen time, imo. But she started saying things like, "oh is mommy gonna let you watch Bluey finally? Do you get to watch TV like all the other babies today? Awww is she being a mean mommy and not letting you watch Ms Rachel?" Its been like this since he was born. When we go to family functions, they try to turn on cartoons for him. They'll try to show him those baby sensory videos on a cell phone propped up when they come visit. Hell, even my husband will sit with the baby in his lap and scroll through tiktok. It breaks my heart watching him go zombie mode in front of a screen. I'm just so frustrated. Idk maybe I'm overreacting but I just wish my parenting choices were respected. I want to feel heard!!!
