When buying a house, are real estate agents, mortgage providers etc. incentivised to truly care for the buyer or is it all about closing and completing the transaction?
I know it's not a black and white answer. But I keep hearing of horror stories where buyers don't quite understand or anticipate a host of things like maintenance costs, tax implications, interest rate fluctuations, shoddy house construction etc. It seems that every party involved whether it's the agent or mortgage company is more interested in just closing the deal, getting paid and moving on. Is this too cynical a view?
