Broken or weak leg?

My mom recently found a mourning dove outside, and noticed that it couldnt fly. It was happy to come with her and she brought it home, and we put it in a box with some water and I recently got some bird seed for it. Its wings work great, its simply it doesnt have the balance. Its left leg is sort of just, hanging around? I dont think its weak, because it cant feel when i gently pinch its toes or anything. I want to help it, so we can later release it. From what Ive read, I could splint it but i want to see if there are any other ways to help? (i will get a good picture of the leg later if needed, but theyre asleep on my chest and want to let them relax lol)
