Does anyone else pamper their pets more than themselves?

My girlfriend Jess (41F) is absolutely obsessed with her dog Georgie. He lives a better life than she does. His food is fresh and organic, while she seems to subsist on Oreos and day-old coffee. He gets laser and acupuncture treatments, while she has a herniated disc and won't do anything about it. He goes on walking adventures and sight sees with his friends all over town, on special outings she arranges for him that she pays for, while she sees to be perpetually chained to her desk. He goes to the groomer every month, which costs as much as one of her own haircuts, which she only gets every 3 months. She rarely spends any money on herself, can always cvome up with a reason why it's not necessary, but her wallet is always open for anything her dog could ever need or want or maybe need or only kind of want.

Is it normal to pamper your dog so much? DO other people do this stuff? I can't tell if it is sweet or sad or pathological. She is a genuinely lovely person. And Georgie is a great dog. But is this normal? Does anyone here do stuff like this? Where does she fall on the spectrum of dog obsessives?
