Anubias melt

Hey yall, I have a nano tank (5gal) that I set up a little over a month ago. It still isn’t cycled, and my anubias plants are melting. I also have an Amazon sword that is dying off pretty fast. I think I made a mistake of not doing enough water changes but have a lot of nutrients in the water column (root tab feeders and aqua soil under the sand). Should I be doing water changes a few times a week to help with this anubias melt? Some leaves are turning yellow/brown.
