Running Plex from a NAS.

Hi everyone,

I've been running PLEX for a few months now and i am absolutely loving it. I was spending over 60$ a month on streaming services which didn't even offer half of what i wanted to watch. On top of that sometimes they had things i wanted to watch but they were country restricted.

I've been running my PLEX server from my PC and it has been working amazingly. There are no issues at all and even my parents are able to watch through the same server from other parts of the country.

It is currently running on my PC and the 2TB of storage i had is completely full. I want to go for an upgrade.

Since i want the server up and running 24/7, i was thinking of getting a NAS to run the server. The added bonus of having a back-up is great as well. Just in case a drive crashes in the future.

Will this work? And are there any that you guys would recommend? Thinking of going for one with 4 slots where i'd just use 2 with 8TB drives for now. That way i can always expand if i ever need to in the future. 8TB will last me a good while for now.

EDIT: Thanks for all the comments. Thinking of buying a external 20TB drive now. Then in a month or so i'll be buying a mini PC which i will add the 20TB drive to. For now i'll use the drive with my PC. Then if i ever need more storage i can just buy an extra drive. I will look into back ups in a year or so. I am not expecting a brand new drive to break.

Eventually i'll just have a mini PC with external drives running 24/7.
