Spoopy Night
The wind bellows throughout the night,
And time has almost come.
For it will be a wondrous sight,
As the children scream and run.
Their cries will ring down the streets,
Howling painfully as they go.
Their footsteps pat in quick beats,
Not knowing how to get home.
Strangers beckon them to their doors,
With as many treats as they please.
Slowly they go in groups of fours,
Not know they’ve been deceived.
The night grows on, out come the bigs,
To scare them all for good.
They come in herds with their rigs,
Not knowing where they’ll go.
And through this all the children run,
From door to endless door.
While the bigs come out to have some fun,
And torture them even more.
But soon time comes, homebound they flee,
With excited grins.
Until they return next Halloween,
And again it all begins.
