Mona's character became a joke in Season 7

Not only was Mona underutilized in S7, but the way they portrayed her mental illness is something that will always bother me.

Her almost pushing Hanna off the bell tower while in a delusional state only for her to revert to her past "Loser Mona" persona didn't make any sense with the type of personality disorder she'd been diagnosed back in 2x25.

I always thought Mona had some sort of Borderline Personality Disorder, yet 7x19 shows her showing signs of DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder) which makes absolutely zero sense given the fact that prior to that, she never showed any signs that would hint at her suffering from such a condition. Sure, Mona's a character with multiple layers, but those layers were part of her own personality, it's not like she would black out and suddenly become another person or version of herself.

Also, it seemed to me that Marlene didn't know what to do with her character anymore, but because of contracts I suppose, she had to keep her in the show. Her condition was not taken seriously anymore and all her character development and growth throughout the seasons kinda went out the window.

It felt like at that point, her mental illness became a total joke, a mockery, and so did her character. She was no longer the Mona we knew and loved (or hated, or loved to hate) she was just "Crazy Mona" as if her mental illness was a joke or something.

Yes, I'm aware this show sucks at portraying realistic mental illnesses, but this is something that will never sit right with me. At least The Perfectionists spin-off does Mona's character justice.
