Princess Cays

If you’ve been to Royal Caribbean’s Coco Cay, quickly temper your expectations. You might even consider staying on the boat if this is one of your stops.

1) The ship anchors and tenders bring you to Princess Cays. Comparing my experience to other times, it was very inefficient. I’d say it took nearly 90 minutes from the call that we could leave the ship to exiting the tender.

2) Once you get there, underwhelming is the word that comes to mind. There’s not really anyone telling you where to go and there aren’t maps. We had a Sanctuary bungalow. The only info we were given was to stand between two buildings to wait on a shuttle. There aren’t enough shuttles to make it worth the wait, so we just started walking. While the bungalows are at the very end, walking would have been the best initial choice. The picture is from the end of the road, so to speak.

3) Don’t pay for the bungalow. The bungalow is basically a small air conditioned hut. You’re still walking to find a restroom anyway. You do not have beach access from the bungalow. And while you get a server to bring you beverages, you either have to go to the buffet to eat or pay extra for a “boxed lunch.”

4) Food and drink options are limited. Very limited. If you have the drink package, save your credits for the better stuff onboard. The food option is a buffet with limited service time. No walk up food options like around the pool about the ship.

5) To give some positivity to this, the staff is all very friendly and the grounds are well manicured. You get a nice view of blue water and the ship.
