[request] My last close family member will soon be gone, and your kindness would mean everything to me. [US]
Hi everyone..
I’m writing during one of the most heartbreaking times of my life. My grandmother, who has always been my rock, recently suffered a massive heart attack. Her kidneys are in complete failure, she’s not on any life sustaining measures and she is now in hospice care. She is already showing signs of her body shutting down, and by the time I receive any cards or letters, she will likely have passed on. To top this off, my biological dad (her son) passed away on 12/11 many years ago when I was a child. So I’m heavily grieving and mourning both of them.
This Christmas will be especially hard for me—I’ll be spending it without family, as my grandmother was my last close relative. The emptiness of this season is already weighing unbearably on my heart.
I would deeply appreciate it if you could send a card, something to brighten my days, or even a sympathy card. Just knowing that someone is thinking of me during this lonely and difficult time would mean the world.
I do love raccoons, sunflowers, and anything Texas—those little things bring me a bit of comfort and joy. Your card doesn’t have to be long or elaborate, much less nothing of the things I enjoy—just something small to remind me that I’m not alone and that love and kindness still exist, even in times of loss.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking the time to think of me. Your thoughtfulness right now will carry me through many of the upcoming years in the future as well since I’ll be safekeeping every one of them to look back on during future holidays.
Happy holidays, and I wish everyone a wonderful and soothing end to 2024.
Edit- I’ll be giving a HUGE THANK YOU to everyone for the cards once I get home today. You all have brightened my Christmas with grandma for 2024.
Edit 2- Today is 01/01/25
