Go to guns for hunting and combat

I've joined more PvE free roam events recently but fear that I suck ass at combat

Alot of the time I'll have my Lancaster, bow (dynamite) and dual navy revolvers but I'm starting to think I should invest in better?

I mainly want something that has a large capacity before reload and that can do decent damage

I'm opennto changing my dual guns, I've been thinking about pistols but am not sure how well they work?

Mainly I'd love to hear everyone's go to for hunting and combat!
