still trying to get 15 gold.

ive been playing online for like, 30-40 hours now and i still only have 8.47 in gold and i need 15 to get one of the roles. i join free roam events and seem to get the same amount for first place as last, i get like .08 from free roam missions, and i keep dying on blood money ones. any ideas that arent grinding it out for another 60 hours or paying rockstar for the privilege of unlocking the game i already paid for?
