Garters by Pamela Morsi

Thought I'd give the world a favor and recommend {Garters by Pamela Morsi}. I've never read a book like it.

FMC is a plain, intelligent hillbilly who sets her sights on the richest man in town bec their family is dirt-poor and decides to make it her job to have him, literally. She literally clocks in and out from dawn to midnight with the noble pursuit of "courting him" for her family's sake.

Problem is, he's already courting someone. And she's innocent and artless and actually has no idea how to court someone because she has never been courted before.

So she goes stalking him openly. It was hilarious. She's a menace and tortures the MMC with her incessant presence and artless seduction. She was so pathetically adorable, I was about ready to abandon my life as a straight woman to just marry her myself.

Morsi was so brilliant that I've alternated between thinking "Damn girl, have you no pride?" to "Damn girl, I love your pride!" which are two opposing coins to attribute to a character. She was bloody brilliant.

Also, this book has short, inner monologues and is a masterclass of "show, don't tell". Morsi drops hints early and then uses them as strong plot devices throughout the book and finishes strongly. Ugh, I love this book!
