30F, HCOL FAANG non-tech
60% of my pay is RSU, and FAANG stocks are up this year. Made about 20% more than I was expecting this year bc of that. In a HCOL region.
Working in a non tech strategy role at FAANG at the L7 level. Graduated from tier-2 university (think nyu/ucla) and started career in Investment banking type of role before moving to FAANG
was it all worth it? Maybe. I have stress induced lifelong health issues (alopecia areata) and am now medicated on Xanax, antidepressants, and sleeping pills. Tried to leave many times, but no one else will pay me even remotely on par with this. Got an offer for about half of this a few years ago, with slightly better wlb. Hard pill to swallow for someone trying to build up wealth.
Personal family relationships have suffered bc of high anxiety and stress. Thankfully I have a supportive partner but without him, my mental health would have been way way worse.
