LGBTQ Couple Moving to Utah

Hey everyone! Just wanted to hear some opinions from other LGBTQ couples in SLC and what your experience has been like. My boyfriend is dead set on moving to Utah for a change of pace. We’re coming from California which is really gay friendly and diverse but I’m having some second thoughts. I feel like our friends and family that are in Provo and SLC are glamorizing it a little too much LOL so I want to hear some opinions from outsider’s perspectives.

I’m bi, my boyfriend is transgender but without people knowing you wouldn’t even be able to tell. My biggest concerns are what the job market is like right now, what type of trans healthcare is available here and will it be affected because of the election/Utah being a red state. I’d love to hear your thoughts, thank you so much!

EDIT: Thank you all for your suggestions and comments! They were super helpful. I wanted to add a few things for some more context. We both grew up in a very Mormon hub of California so we know how to navigate that and are pretty much ready for it. A lot of our friends here still practice so I’m not too worried about that aspect. My partner is Hawaiian/Dutch and I’m Mexican, I knew the diversity there would be limited but I know the Polynesian community is pretty big which is a plus!

As far as jobs go, I’m a nanny (that is extremely burnt out) and my boyfriend owns a dog training business. Unfortunately he’s also burnt out so he wants to try something different and we’re basically looking for any job that will take us right away that hopefully isn’t minimum wage but I don’t know how possible that is. I’m definitely leaning into Colorado after the suggestions but my boyfriend has family all over Utah which is why he thinks it would be our best options. I can’t shake that the lawmakers are all conservative and at the end of the day, it’s a red state. I’m hoping we can do a 6 month lease to try it out.
