I think I have to move

I've lived in Utah my entire life, but I'm thinking I'll have to leave the state if I ever want to own a home because this is insane 🤣 the entire place is gutted and I'm sure it costs more in replairs than its worth. Those of you who have bought a house, what is it that you do for a living? How do you afford to live here?
