Just eat - fake businesses and non-delivery?

Hello all, I've not been scammed by this, but it looks like a bunch of people have been.

In idle time the other night I was going through Just Eat and I filtered my search by "new".

There were a bunch of 24/7 places that seem to focus on alcohol, tobacco and vape deliveries, at substantial markup (£40 for a bottle of Gordon's⁉️)

They all have dreadful scores (like the one in the screenshot above). When you read the reviews they are invariably full of people who've been charged but not had anything delivered.

There are also some 5-star ratings, sometimes multiple 5-star ratings from the same person posted on the same day, and sometimes that person has made multiple ratings across multiple similarly named services.

I assume this is a network of fake businesses, and Just Eat might get around to removing them after they've been active for a few weeks. I also imagine the folks that set them up might find it quick and easy to create/clone new ones.

I've reached out to the Just Eat UK press office with some questions, they've agreed a deadline of Wednesday lunchtime for a statement in reply.

I'm just wondering if there's anything I'm missing here - is the scam as simple as it looks, and are Just Eat's checks really that weak? Am I even potentially wrong about it being a scam?
