Does Taking a Passive Semester Affect My Residence Permit?

Hey everyone,

I’m a student with a residence permit in Hungary, valid until 2027. I’ve taken a passive semester and am currently not in Hungary. I know that my residence permit isn’t valid during the passive semester, but I’m unsure about what happens after.

Does taking a passive semester affect the validity of my residence permit after the semester ends? Will it still be valid once I return to active studies, or does it become invalid entirely?

If it’s no longer valid, what steps do I need to take to reinstate it?
