Stuck in a Section 8 Dilemma—Need Help

I’m currently in State A with a Section 8 project-based voucher, which is tied to my apartment and doesn’t allow me to move. However, I’ve been approved for a Section 8 tenant-based voucher in State B, where I can choose any place to live. This is a huge opportunity for me because I have family in State B, and moving there would be much better for me financially.

The problem is that I can’t get out of my lease in State A. I’ve tried to negotiate with the landlord to buy out the lease, but they declined. I feel stuck because staying here isn’t ideal for my family or finances, but I don’t want to risk jeopardizing my Section 8 eligibility by breaking the lease improperly.

Does anyone have advice on how to handle this? Is there a way to terminate a lease under these circumstances without losing my voucher or facing legal trouble? Are there organizations or resources that could help? I’d really appreciate any guidance!
