Major Dalim, known for his role in assassinating Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his family, claimed in an interview with Elias Hossain that only two women were raped during the Liberation War of 1971. This is part of a coordinated effort by Islamist forces to rewrite history and erase the brutalities committed by Pakistani soldiers against Bengali women. First, they denied the number of deaths in the war, and now they will latch onto Dalim’s statement to downplay the mass rapes.
Between 200,000 and 400,000 Bengali women were subjected to brutal rapes as Pakistani soldiers used sexual violence as a weapon of war. It's very well documented history and reality!
Please remember, denying this reality is not just an insult to the memory of the women who suffered and died—it is also an insult to every woman around you today.
