Last second of first episode spoilers

So idk if anyone else went back and paused at this part but I thought it was really interesting. Based off this I’m pretty sure Ms. Casey/gemma is still alive, but I’m curious to know what the work they’re doing has to do with it. Does anyone have any ideas/thoughts?
