Why is Naofumi so strong vs Bow, Sword, Spear?
This isn't actually me asking the question, it's me answering it. I've figured it out. It has nothing to do with the Shield being stronger, or even the personalities of the other heroes - though it certainly doesn't help their case. No, this is an Isekai and it functions off of MMO rules. What is the one rule you never break when it comes to new players?
That's right. You never give them everything right off the bat.
The reason is that even though they'll start off strong, they never understand the mechanics and the techniques that they'd otherwise have to learn in order to BECOME strong. Meaning that, even if they just power-grind their stats up, they don't know how to efficiently use those stats, or even how to incorporate other side-stats into their abilities. Example: They spawned and were immediately given lots of gold, powerful items, learned how to just auto-craft a bunch of their stuff, and any time an issue arose, they just brute forced it and wandered off. They didn't stick around to see how people felt, they didn't learn how to network or how to travel because they just teleported everywhere and used the King and Church as a way to get anything they wanted. Naofumi traveled around on a cart, he learned the importance of money and how to make it, he gradually discovered how to expand his arsenal and his passive abilities. Motoyasu was so out of touch with the world that he thought 50 silvers as an entry/exit fee to Lute Village was fine because he thought everybody was made of money - after all, he's got an infinite amount of it, you know?
That's why the other heroes are so weak, even if they regularly outlevel Naofumi. They didn't have an early game. They were spoiled by high-level sugar daddies and failed to understand their mechanics. They are all that kid with mom's credit card RWT'ing their gear in and then bitching at you for cheating when you use an intermediate combo since all they ever figured out was that Meteor Shoot/Slice/Thrust was big strong damage attack.
