24 Silverado 2.7/8spd or F150 5.0/10spd
Yeah I know, it's a Chevy forum. I'm leaning towards the Chevy cause I've been a Chevy guy and I'm familiar with them, that's all, so figured I'd post here. I'll rest drive both in the next week. I posted a similar question, don't remember if it was here or not, but I have my options narrowed down to either f150 XL or Silverado custom.
Pros and cons to each:
Everyone says 5.0 is bulletproof, hearing that it doesn't have afm lifters
10 spd eh, lots of people saying the 8spd sucks but seems like the 10 has its fair share of problems
Seems like f150 has more room, full center console
Logic be damned, everyone loves a V8 lol
Never owned a Ford so I'm much more familiar with Chevy quirks and flaws, I'd be going into a Ford at a disadvantage there
Ford seems to have more trim options at the xl level than Chevy does at the custom level
Chevy 2.7 sounds like a pretty good engine and none of the problems that their V8 has with afm/lifters etc 8spd was revised after the class action but seems like a lot of problems with it still (might be a moot point, see above 10spd comment) I think I like the look of the Chevy more I'll miss a V8 just for noise factor and naturally aspirated V8 may be easier to work on than Chevy's 2.7 Chevy electronic issues are real
Those are the options and power trains I'm locked into due to pricing. Chevy dealership got me down to 39k on a Silverado custom, down from 52k. Ford dealership we'll see, list price for the XL is 54k I think. Maybe pricing will win anyway based off if Ford can match that or not lol.
I think I'm looking for people who can say that they have 24 Silverado 8spd that HAVEN'T had any issues, since I've read way more "my trans just blew up under warranty" from the 24 Silverado than I've read from the 24 f150
