Finally bought a snowblower

But where to start. I picked up an old MTD Snowflite 11/33 blower from a coworker for $50. It runs and was used last year. He put a new pull cord on it for me, and says he cleaned the fuel lines, as the tank had old gas. That's an understatement as the tank is full of rust etc as pictured, it was all clogged up.

I used broken glass and old marbles in the tank with some brake cleaner, and shook it up to clean it out, but I'm wondering if I could find another fuel tank somewhere, if that would be easier.

My question here is, I had played with the fuel adjustment screw on the front of the carb (the one with the spring) and now I'm not sure where to start with fixing that. I was told to bottom out the screw gently, and then back it out 1 turn to start. Does that sound reasonable?

Thank you! I worked on cars for years, but never really dealt with small engines besides push mowers, for reference on abilities
