Join the Steam Grand Prix event!
This years Summer Sale brings a new event where you earn points for your chosen team by earning in-game Steam achievements and completing quests in participating games! Join your favourite team now!
For full details read the Grand Prix page and the event rules.
Race with your favourite team!
Once you've chosen your team you can start to complete quests to earn points, and you also earn points by completing in-game Steam achievements in any game on Steam! If you already have achievements in a game you will earn the points that those achievements are worth by playing the game for 30 minutes.
All players start with at least 100 Boost Points capacity, and each day you participate your Boost Meter capacity is increased by 100 points, and for every ~1$ you spend on the Steam Store you will upgrade your Boost Meter capacity by ~100 points(the X amount of currency and Y amount of points is different for every currency)
Buying products on the store increases your point capacity, you don't get actual points or tokens from buying products.
You can coordinate attacks with other drivers. Boosting your team will give a 1/4 chance to receive a basic attack. Attacks on other teams reduces the targets boost level.
Money you spent on Steam previously may increase your capacity.
Leftover tokens you had(if any) in the 2019 Steam Lunar New Year Sale have been automatically converted to Boost Meter capacity in this event.
Earn rewards, and get free games!
The races reset at 10 AM PDT every day and the team with the most distance wins the race for that day, and each day, 300 participants from the 1st placing team, 200 from the 2nd and 100 from the 3rd get the Nr. 1 game on their wishlist for free, so make sure to appropriately sort your wishlist!
Additionally, when the races end on July 7 2019, 1000 participants from the 1st placing team will get the top 3 games on their wishlist for free, 1000 from the 2nd will get their top 2 games and 1000 from the 3rd will get the top 1 game in their wishlist.
NOTICE: As explained on the Event Rules page you need to contribute to your teams distance point to be entered to the giveaway.
At the end of the event, Valve will have paid for and given away 13,200 games. 7,200 games to 7,200 participants from the daily drawings; and 6,000 games to 3,000 participants once the last drawing occurs.
When you have points you can boost your team and claim rewards at the Pit Shop. Here you can redeem tokens and claim a Grand Prix profile badge, discounts on your next Steam store purchase, profile backgrounds and chat emotes.
When does it end?
The Grand Prix races end on July 7, 2019 @ 10 AM PDT.
The Pit Shop closes once the sale concludes on July 9, 2019 @ 10 AM PDT, so make sure to redeem your tokens in time!
The next day started but my point capacity hasn't reset!?
Your point capacity counter does not reset each day. You get 100 point capacity each day and an additional 100 per 1$ spent on the store(exact amounts differ from currency to currency). When the next day starts you do not instantly get 100 more capacity, it takes a few minutes for it occur.
How many people get free games? Can I win an unreleased game or a Valve Index?

Yes, you can win an unreleased game as long as the product has a price on the store and can be bought, and no you cannot win a Valve Index. The rules specifically state that any purchasable game is eligible. This means that as long as the unreleased product has a price and can be purchased(pre-ordered), it is eligible to win.

Steam Sale FAQ!
Q: Where are the trading cards?
A: This years sale doesn't have any trading cards, instead you can earn badges and other rewards in The Grand Prix Race.
Q: I purchased a game but got no tokens! What gives?
A: Purchasing products on the Steam Store does not yield tokens. Purchasing things increases your point capacity in the Grand Prix race.
Q: When does the sale end?
A: The 2019 Steam Grand Prix Summer Sale ends on July 9 , 2019 @ 10:00 AM PST. Click here to convert it into your time.
Q: I can't gift a friend because of regional price differences, what do I do?
A: You can send your a friend a Digital Gift Card via Steam instead, you can do that from here.
You can also gift games via a different, trusted and verified re-seller, like HumbleBundle.
Here is our full list of safe sites to buy Steam keys from.
Q: Are sale prices constant throughout the sale?
A: Yes, very rarely do discounts change during the course of a sale, but sometimes mistakes happen and a discount might be changed to correct an error.
Q: Should I wait until the end of the sale to buy things?
A: Don't wait until the end of the sale. As the previous question says: the prices for games are going to be the same throughout the sale. If you encounter technical issues with your purchase at the end of the sale, you will miss out on the sale price. Steam will not retroactively give you the sale price once the sale ends.
If you see something you are certain you want, buy it. Waiting till the very end will lead to a good possibility of you missing out on it altogether.
Q: Why are my downloads so slow?
A: There is severe load under Steam's servers, both store and content servers. Just give it some time, and try again later. Also, don't forget to check the server status on the sidebar. If you're having these issues at the very start or very end of the sale it is par for the course as the store and product pages are transitioning over for the sale, and as the servers are being bombarded by loads and requests by users. Try to clear the download cache.
If you consistently have issues please post in the support thread and/or use this Steam Guide for information and as a troubleshooting tool.
Q: The store doesn't load, only my library works, images are broken, weird blue text, etc
A: The store not loading at the start and end of the sale is normal, and relatively slower load times is also normal, but if this is consistently happening try to clear the Steam browser cache and cookies.
If this doesn't work you can post in the support thread and/or use this Steam Guide for information and as a troubleshooting tool.
Q: Can I share the games that I have with my family or friends?
A: Yes, you may do so through Family Sharing, for more information read here. However, keep in mind that redeemed games are permanently tied to your library and cannot be transferred between accounts or exchanged.
Q: I haven't used Steam before; isn't Steam vaporized water?
A: If you're new to Steam then first of all, Welcome! And second of all, please read our New to Steam Wiki page.
Q: Can games be cheaper on other sites during the sale? What sites should I check?
A: Yes, games can be cheaper on other sites during the Steam Sale. Here is our list of safe sites to buy Steam keys from. There are many sites that sell Steam keys that practice in shady business, we recommend you only use the sites listed in that wiki page.
