Not Family Friendly

Maybe it’s just me. I am 38yo and my son 5yo. These mechanics are pretty new and I never saw them in any Mario game before. I am talking about this crown that one player has and therefore the camera is following ONLY that person with the crown…. Now imagine playing with a 5yo kid and he has the crown and he is either running away so you get stuck somewhere between a obstacle and camera and you die or he jumps down a hole and camera follows him and I am not finished at the top and again dying…. Never raged about a game so much as with this game. Or am I playing wrong? Can I configure the crown to be only on me? That game just doesn’t make fun in multiplayer.
