Pro 7 seems to be dying, advice needed please

I've had my pro 7 since 2020 and I think the SSD is failing. I know this is typical of time frame....crazy given the expense of these devices! I am a little bit techy so have tried a number of things and I would like opinions on if I should bother taking it in somewhere for diagnostics or just bite it and get a new one, not spending more $ than necessary. I'll list in point form symptoms and what I've done, and hopefully y'all can give me some advice!

  • Symptoms started with one specific event, December 21, 2024. I was performing and plugged in a headphone plug to RCA jacks, from the Surface to my small mixer to play tracks through my PA. Note, this is the first time I have done this with my Surface as I used to use my phone to play tracks but don't have a headphone jack on my phone. Was planning to get a USB-C - headphone adapter but hadn't got around to it yet! Anyway, I digress, within a minute of playing a track, it crashed. I tried a few more times, crashed each time, so gave up. Some weird electrical issue? It was not plugged in. should not be an issue
  • After that, it crashed randomly, but not too often, still usable. However, now untrustworthy for gigs where I need it to work. Not to run tracks, but for my sheet music management system that I have been using for 4 years.
  • Last week there were some windows updates. After that, it was still behaving about the same. Not reliable, but still usable.
  • Today it starting crashing frequently. Occasionally a blue screen, but mostly it would just go black, as if going to sleep, but would need restarting every time, in effect it had shut itself off.
  • I have tried resetting my Surface numerous times the past few hours, in various ways, including a complete wipe, but it won't reset.....I have literally tried to reset it 5 or more times via the basic reset functions and then via command prompt.....crashing constantly....help!!!! It literally says it's abandoning the reset.
  • When trying to reset, or do anything, I have had to be very quick with commands for fear of it crashing.....which it has every time.

Any insight appreciated!!!!
