sizes running big?

so i usually wear size M for everything so during the black friday sale i got 2 tees, and 3 hoodies/sweatshirts M, they’re HUGE and they weren’t advertised as oversized. i’m not complaining but is this common. cause i know sometimes it’ll look huge but fit smaller?
