Here is the email everyone in my district just woke up to. I put the funny parts in bold.
“[My school district] has designated Tuesday, September 10, as an e-learning day out of an abundance of caution while law enforcement investigates recent threats posted on social media. All staff should report in person at their regular times. We apologize for the late notice, but we always keep the safety of students and staff as our top priority.”
Update: the student who made the threat was arrested early this morning before we got to school. (Still….) He made an instagram post posing with an assault rifle and showing his face.
ALSO: THERE WERE TEACHERS IN MY BUILDING WHO KNEW NOTHING OF THIS UNTIL THEY SHOWED UP THIS MORNING…
There was no call or anything. I found out because of a group text with other teachers who took screenshots of screenshots. It wasn’t until I checked my email that I noticed the midnight email had been sent out. MIDNIGHT. Who here check their email between midnight and arriving at school?
This, and the serious lack of gun reform, is why people die in schools.
