Dealing with divorced parents of a student is tons of fun.
Dude, I hope beyond hope these kids are able to work these parents into getting twice the presents at Christmas because they deserve it.
I get NOT staying together for the kids, but for the love of Christ give your kid one set of orders from both parents to march to.
I’ve been basically playing go-between with 3 sets of divorced parents.
“I want my kid to have an A”. “I’m comfortable with a C”
Or
“Can you explain why my son is chronically absent? He lives with his mother.”
Meanwhile I have to manage these kids meltdowns.
This is why, every year, I casually drop to the class: being Gen X means I had to learn fast as a kid I couldn’t depend on my parents or adults paid to care.
Hopefully they pick up what I’m laying down.
I have a quote hanging up: adulthood means ceasing to depend on others and being someone others can depend on. So many adults are still kids.
