Can we please stop finding excuses to post selfies? Just post them smh

It’s one thing to actually not know. If you really do have self image issues or you just don’t know how you come off to other people, then yeah, make the “am I ugly” post. In that case, that’s a genuine question. But an overwhelming majority of yall ask that and you pick out the best selfies you’ve ever taken, ones in which you know you were really feeling yourself and you looked good, and then hit post. I don’t think there’s any reason that you should feel the need to post those under the guise of asking if you’re ugly.

I think what a lot of it comes from is either a fear of coming off as vain, or being shot down in the comments when you really felt confident that you looked good. Well, for one, as shot to shit as all of our self esteems are these days, I think we could do with a healthy little bit of vanity as a treat so as long as you’re not claiming to look better than everybody else I don’t see a problem with letting people know how good you think you look. And for two, it’s not like you’re going to meet the people in your comments, and if they’re people who took one look at you and wanted to insult you, why are they people you’d care about?

Just post the selfie. Title the post something along the lines of you just thinking you took a really good picture. There’s no need to make some bullshit excuse for just feeling good about yourself. Humans are a social species, innately attention seeking, so don’t feel ashamed to seek that attention. It’s really saddening to me that we’ve had to come up with ways to pretend like we’re not.
