Moving to Thailand / Medical Marijuana

My family has been looking to ditch the United States for a little bit now. We’ve looked at a few places and decided to visit Thailand to see if we’d like to stay permanently. One of the things that really narrows our search is that she’s a medical marijuana patient. It seemed as though Thailand had that covered. However now I’ve seen grumblings about them changing the laws. For those that are there, is this a real concern or just backlash from a minority of people who don’t approve?
