Thailand in April travel advice

Hey everyone

I’m planning a trip to Thailand for the entire month of April, flying into Bangkok to start. I’ve done some research on the weather and learned that the northern region (Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, and Pai) can be quite tough this time of year due to the burning season and the heat.

I’d really love to explore the north, as I’ve heard so many great things about it, but I’m wondering if it’s worth it in April. Would it be better to spend 4-5 days in Bangkok and then head straight down south to the islands instead?

I enjoy slower travel and prefer spending 4-6 days in each place to really soak up the atmosphere. I’m just a bit worried about committing two weeks of the trip to the north if the conditions are unpleasant.

If anyone has visited these areas in April, I’d love to hear your advice or suggestions for a route that maximises my experience. Thanks so much for your help :)
