Bubblestrat dead?

Since the new patch, training at a friendly gym can result in a fainted pokemon and thus a revive. Does this make the bubblestrat dead? Even if you kill the horsea you would need to survive the next pokemon's hit and run away in order to train again.

The whole point of the bubblestrat was to have no consequences of failure (if you couldn't kill horsea, or if the next pokemon knocked you out you would still stay at 1hp). But now that getting knocked out results in 0hp, this strat is dead.

Am I wrong? I've been looking through the subreddit for a larger discussion about this but couldn't find anything.
