Which song is better: Snowchild or Escape From L.A.
Both are peak After Hours songs. Perfectly depicting the theme of the album which is a man who has ascended to stardom and is calling out Hollywood and the music industry for being a fake life with fake people. The key difference in lyrical content is that Snowchild is about the struggle he endured making it to where he is and how he reached the peak and is shocked by how blinded (A word he uses often in the album to describe it) he feels. Escape From L.A. covers more about the city of Los Angeles and the people living there being fake people with plastic surgery. The lyrics that best sum up these two songs are:
Snowchild:
"Spending all my money on these _______ that I brought up
Taking care of families for my brothers when they locked up
And I had nothing to believe in
Double cup leanin'
Couldn't even breathe and
For that money I was fiending
Cali was the mission but now a ________ leaving"
Escape From L.A.:
And it's slowly burning, it was never cheap
If you seen what I seen, you wouldn't sleep
I can't sleep
'Cause I got everything I wanted
Got the money, got the cars, got the ceiling with the stars
Got everything I wanted
But I'd be nothing without you
Personally, I give the edge to Snowchild. This advantage is mostly due to how well I think the song feels. I think the style of music goes very well with the message the song conveyed. What's your opinion?
