The evolution of the chair

When I reread Tokyo Ghoul I noticed a curious detail, the chair from the door of the first volume of the manga appears throughout the series, It may not be as iconic as the Arima flowers, the black and white grids, etc, but it deserves to be mentioned.

Does it have any meaning?
