Toyota eCVTs vs. CVTs

First time caller, long time admirer of Toyotas.

My Nissan Juke's CVT is biting the bullet and I want to wash my hands of the car and the brand. Wish I'd known when I got it just how bad the CVTs were and how expensive it'd be to fix. Anyway, I'm looking into older Toyotas and I've come across a couple models which have CVTs listed - such as the 2016 Prius. Just wanted to confirm - has the Prius always had an eCVT, and are eCVTs cheaper to repair? (Most CVTs and IVTs need a full replacement when things go bad and I want to avoid that).

Edit: Now that that's cleared up I'm also wondering if there are any cons to the Prius. I'm seeing a few 2010's models on the used market and wonder if there's a reason.
