Buying used still just doesn't seem worth it

I really like the 3rd gen body style and if depreciation on used vehicles (Tacoma's specifically) were reasonable, I wouldn't even think of considering a brand new one. I have some hesitation with the first model year, and the 4 cylinder turbo engine, but with the factory warranty, no worry of how a used truck was driven, and 2% financing on new, I have a hard time finding a reasonable deal on a 2018-2023 truck that would sway me. I'm not sure why I would buy something with 30k miles only to save 5 grand. It's unfortunate, as I would be plenty happy with a 3-5 year old vehicle if it was 35% off the original purchase price.

I'm seeing tons of 2024 models (mostly SR5s, which is all I need), and the dealers seem eager to get them off the lot, by offering well under MSRP.

How are you that are looking to purchase thinking about this? I would assume that the 4th gen will retain it's value as well, but that's somewhat of an unknown.
