Basically wasting 0.1ml Ester every time I inject. Am I doing something wrong?

Hi, just started with subq injections recently (EEN 5mg/week) for which I have to inject 0.1ml. I make sure to get all the air out of the syringe when drawing and I draw a bit more (0.2ml), to get the air out of the injection needle after replacing the drawing needle with it, meaning I'm wasting the same amount I inject, to get all the air out. Am I doing something wrong or this just how it has to be?
