Identity Verification?????

My taxes got flagged for verification, I haven’t received a letter so I called earlier this week to verify it’d been sent out, could not verify so the guy said he was sending another one out. So I called today, checking to verify the letter had been mailed. Could not verify so I wanted to go ahead and just do an in person appt to verify. They can’t let me go in to verify until next Monday 21 days after being flagged? I’m so confused on this process and what’s going on. Has anyone had this issue and what did you do to fix it. I was told I’d have the letter 15 days or so earlier this week then today it could be 4-6 weeks before it’s mailed and now I have zero idea on what’s going on.
